Brain development, degeneration, and sleep.
I’m Ty Fleming, an Imaging Science PhD student at WashU. I use neuroimaging and spatial statistics to study patterns of brain development and degeneration, and methods for decoding brain state during sleep.

Development & degeneration
Do the cortical regions that develop later show related patterns of vulnerability in aging and disease? A spatial analysis of the “last in, first out” idea with Muriah Wheelock.
Decoding sleep from fMRI
Can short fMRI windows reveal sleep state and help researchers interpret changing brain networks?
Research in progress.
My current work is being developed with the Wheelock Neuroimaging Lab. These pages explain the questions and methods behind the work; results will be added when they are ready to share.
Earlier work in medical image analysis is listed on the Publications page.
